Blackberry Bold Counterfeit Battery M-S1

I decided to purchase a new battery for my Rogers branded Blackberry Bold. I thought why spend $89.99 for a battery. No, thats not a typo Rogers Wireless charges $89.99 for a replacement battery.

I thought to myself, lets look at Ebay and see what we can find. I went to Ebay Canada and searched for a blackberry bold battery M-S1. Found one for US $0.99 and shipping being US $3.59. Item location was: Shenzhen, China. I knew what I was getting myself into. I knew 100% that I was going be receiving a counterfeit battery. I paid through Paypal and patiently waited for my item to arrive.

2 weeks later I had received package in the mail and sure enough there it was my new counterfeit battery. She looked good, had all the RIM logos on it, along with all the proper documentation at the back of the battery. I decided to compare the batteries charismatically and here's what I came up with.

REAL VS. FAKE:

The original had open holes and the counterfeit had closed up holes.

Huge different when you look at the connectors. The original has yellow connectors while the counterfeit has white connectors. Also the original had a "white" marking while the counterfeit did not. Cheap production possibly?

The contents at the back of the battery. The original had BAT-14392-001 while the counterfeit had BAT14392-001 (no dash). Also the fonts were totally different.

The two batteries are similar, the fonts are a bit different, but you could honestly not tell which one is original and which one is not.

    OVERALL:
The charismatic evaluation was very difficult. The counterfeit battery looked like the original. If I did not have an original battery to compare, I would not be able to tell the difference.

    NEXT:
We will test out the performance of the two batteries.
